Northeast Municipal Advisors (NEMA) is a municipal advisory firm serving cities, towns, counties, school districts and special districts throughout Maine and New Hampshire.

We provide local government clients with advice as to the structure, ratings, terms, bond insurance, sale mode and other matters with respect to each bond or note offering.

Richard Ranaghan is President of NEMA and founded the firm in 2016 after a successful 25 year career as a Public Finance banker with two of Maine's finest banking institutions.  He is the former Director of Finance for the City of Portland, a Past President of the New England Government Finance Association, and co-founder of the Maine Government Finance Association.  He has served in leadership capacities as a board member of many local government and not for profit corporations, including the Cumberland County Civic Center, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Portland, Regional Waste Systems (ecomaine), and Portland City Charter Commission.
